In John 17:20-26, Jesus is praying to God the Father and crying out to him:
“ The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. “
He encourages to be with him, become one with him, love him just as he did with his Father. Unconditional love was the defining characteristic of Jesus’ life. And lately, I’ve realized that many people have been telling me that I am set apart by my love.
I am all about people and loving them. I feel most loved and filled up when I am spreading love and encouragement. And that’s what I want to continue to do for the rest of my life.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34
The only commandment Jesus gave to us while He was alive was to love one another. He made us to love him and love each other. We get so caught up in this world and our flesh, we forget the things He showed and told us. In every action, whether sweet and kind or harsh and straightforward, it was all from a place of love. He told us to love and spread love; to sit with sinners at a table, to never judge someone for their past but forgive them.
Whether it be in the theater world, in a non-profit, or everyday life, I want to continue to be known by my love.
