It’s funny sometimes how we as humans feel we need to constantly be doing something. We have it in our minds that doing nothing is unproductive and lazy. We are constantly told we need to be working for something.
But what about just resting? We see it as ‘Netflix and chill’, binge watching our favorite TV shows, sitting on our phones, surfing the internet, DIY projects… But what about sitting and doing absolutely nothing? No screens, no people, nothing but you and the Lord.
We get so caught up in the every day: seeing our friends, keeping up with our shows, checking every email, etc.
All the Lord asks us to do is sit with Him. All he asks of us is to be with Him. To get to know Him and love Him.
Do you know that all your Lord wants more than anything is for you to sit with Him? We were created in order to have a relationship with Him.
How often do you sit and talk to your best friend? Your dad? How intentional are you with sitting with a friend and having a conversation in order to get to know them better?
That’s all Jesus wants.
He wants to sit with you with nothing else in the way. Just you and Him.
These past 2 weeks between Project Searchlight and going to CGA have left me with a lot of free time. But I’ll be honest, taking your own advice is the hardest thing. We’re all a little hypocritical. I’m writing this blog because I know how important it is to spend intentional time with my best friend. But even though I’ve had all the time in the world, I’ve barely spent time with Him.
So this blog is me calling myself out and calling you higher. Choose into it. It makes every day worth it.
Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.“
Choosing Him will help you renew your mind and put your mind at peace.
On your drive to work, instead of listening to Adele, put on some worship music and let Jesus be your passenger.
Take a walk for 15 minutes and invite Jesus to walk beside you.
Turn off your TV, phone, computer for 15 minutes and sit with Jesus.
But, don’t do it if your heart isn’t in it.
2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
He doesn’t want you to do it out of shame or guilt. He doesn’t want you to do it out of obligation, He wants you to do it because you desire to know him better.
He loves you just as you are. He created you uniquely with a beautiful purpose: to be his son or daughter.
Spending time with Him is when he loves to dote on you and reveal to you the beautiful things he’s given you.
Just ask Him a question: ‘Lord, what do you think of me?”
For his thoughts of us outnumber the grains of sand on the earth. He thinks so highly of you that there’s not enough time in your life on Earth to learn all His thoughts of you. He has known you since before he created the Earth and given you a purpose. (Need a reminder? Read Psalm 139. It’s a favorite of mine)
Resting with Him and letting Him in is when he loves to reveal those things to us. If you make room for Him, he will fill it.
Is there something you can choose to give up to make time for Him?
I’m giving up Netflix for this week in order to ready myself for this coming season of CGA.
Also, I’m still $1,080 away from my financial deadline on Friday, January 29th! Please consider donating by clicking the Support Me tab on the left side my blog!!
God bless you all!
